Extraction of B12 Reference Intervals from a Large Amount of General Patient Data

Abstract This study compared the reference intervals (RI) of B12 vitamin concentration in blood found literature with RIs extracted from data accumulated a large number patients by E. Gulbis Laboratory Latvia. paper investigated and demonstrated possibility using amounts random patient to establish RI for clinical laboratory tests. The level was selected as model system this study. used blind measurements 132 379 over period 15 years. In order intervals, frequency distribution log transformed values fit Gaussian distribution. established interval 196 pg/ml 942 be good agreement reported elsewhere.
